A Family of Four

As I sit here and write this, I am listening to the laughter and giggles of my beautiful Alexandra echoing through my home.  These could possibly be the most beautiful sounds this man has heard.

Yet, almost two months ago, another sound just as beautiful was vigorously resonating in my ear.  The cry of my newborn son, Garrett Christopher.  As his mother embraces him in her devoted arms, my eyes tear from the certainty that miracle number two has just entered my life.

Another chapter begins.  About a family of four.  Embracing the story of this ever so exciting adventure called "Life".

Love of Snow, Love of Life.

 With the spunk of an youthful child, Mrs. Katherine meticulously flattens out the slushy snow on the hillside of her field.  Hopes of creating a sledding path that will propel her trusty flexible flyer down the slope are restless in her head. 

At 94 years young, Mrs. Katherine still has a passion for sledding in the snow.  As I stand next to her on the hilltop, that has remained the same for over 70 years, she speaks from her heart about the beauty of the snow, blue skies and white capped trees.  With not one single regret in her 94 years, she has an authentic love for life. 

Mrs. Katherine Jennings is truly an inspiration to me and an absolute blessing to this world.  While I begin to give her a good push on her sled, I think to myself, "Maybe we all need to take a little time to find our inner adolescence and let it shine through."

One Year

Ten years ago I met and fell in love with my soulmate, my best friend.  One year ago love blessed me again.  Without the first, the second would cease to exist.  Because of you Bridget, my heart smiles.  Because of you Alexandra, my heart dances while smiling.

A Day of Good Cause

  
  With over 30,000 participants raising more than 3 million dollars, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was certainly a sight to be seen and I was fortunate enough to be a part of it.  Our team, "Barb's Bosom Buddies", graciously raised over $2,400 in honor of the beloved survivor, Aunt Barb.  I also personally ran for my mother who is a survivor going on 6 years now!

  "Run 4 Life" is the motto of the Dustin Bauer Memorial 5k.  This 4th annual fund raiser provides scholarship contributions for educational and athletic purposes to Calvert Hall College High School and Mount Saint Mary's University.  Held at Oregon Ridge Nature Center, we as runners experienced a beautiful cross country run, not lacking in it's share of rolling hills!  The fastest time recorded yesterday was 17:30....Dustin used to finish it in less than 16:30!!

  To have the ability to participate in not one, but two of these great causes in the same day is not taken for granted for one second.  Thanks to all of the Aunt Barb's and Dustin's in this world who give us hope, inspiration and love in all of our lives.

     I am not sure what I find more endearing?  

    The fact that, before our daughter was born, my wife was the most amazing person I have ever met.  Now that Alex is 17 weeks young, my wife has embraced the role of motherhood and I have an undefined level of admiration for what she has done with that amazing person I knew.

    That it is truly surreal to wake everyday to find that the sun is shining brighter than the morning before.  That with every breath, my body fills with an energy not known, to my soul, before Alexandra entered my life.  

I am sure I do not need to choose ;-)

Seven Pound Miracle

An AnGeL is among us!  On the Twenty Fourth of May, Two Thousand and Eleven, Alexandra Grace Lloyd blessed our family with her arrival.  This journey through life is an absolute adventure.  Just when I thought I could not love someone more, along comes this new wonder into my life.  Now, two women bless this breath of mine.  The first - beautiful, strong, confident; my best friend.   The newest - purer than pure, innocent, precious, angelic.
